40th anniversary of fighting poverty and hunger in The Bronx. We have kept the promise of our founders to be a kind and loving community while constantly increasing the number of people we serve and expanding our services beyond food security.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b8e7681 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"b8e7681\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>We partner with our clients to empower them to reach their full potential. Our neighborhood continues to be a haven for immigrants seeking better, safer lives. Most of our clients have incomes well below the poverty level. Daily, they confront the hard choice of paying for rent or food, among other expenses. Every afternoon, members of our community sit down with us and share a hot meal in our Community Dining Room.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8dea3d4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8dea3d4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Some come to us because of the food, and, after a few visits, they open up to our staff about the true nature of their circumstances. One of our most vulnerable clients who found himself facing homelessness recently said \u201cwhat POTS offers is unique.\u201d And he is not alone in this opinion, as many of our clients come to us on a regular basis thanks to the hard work, dedication and a dignifying approach from our staff. We do not see our clients as case files or numbers. We see our clients as individuals, as they are and as they want to be.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-51c2f3a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"51c2f3a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Since opening 40 years ago, POTS has relied on its loyal donors, hardworking and caring volunteers, and charitable partners to deliver the best services available. severe economic challenges and food insecurity. So, with a few dollars in his pocket, he set out on foot and entered the US seeking asylum as a solution to his family\u2019s problems. In a temporary shelter in the Bronx, some people tried to talk him into paying $300 to find a more permanent home.
